Nothing on paper

An FOI request to the BBC seems to suggest that they can find no written record of complaints against Jimmy Savile - at least in the most likely areas.

The enquirer asked "What responsibilities exist for reporting alleged/suspected abuse?" and "Were there ever any such reports regarding Jimmy Savile ?"

Here's the answer to the last one.. .

I estimate that this would involve searching the entirety of the BBC’s records and therefore compliance with your request would exceed the appropriate limit of 2.5 days. I am mindful of the BBC’s duty under section 16 of the Act to advise and assist requestors and, to this end, I believe the only sensible way of narrowing the scope of your request would be to undertake a search of areas of the Corporation likely to hold information pertaining to Sir Jimmy Savile or the programmes he appeared in during his time at the BBC. A comprehensive search has been undertaken of these areas, including: BBC People; BBC Vision and the Talent Rights Group and all relevant archives, as well as records in the Director-General’s Office. No information was found. The BBC continues to keep its searches for information under review as and when new information comes to light, however I can confirm that, to date, the BBC does not hold any information relevant to your request.
