Keeping busy

There's sometimes an odd mirror in life; Tony Hall forsakes the world of opera and ballet to save the BBC. Caroline Thomson, forsaken by the BBC Trust, moves in to save the English National Ballet.

The touring ENB, with its HQ nestling behind the Albert Hall, has parted company with Chief Excutive Karen Napier, who joined from the London Business School at the start of February. Caroline is stepping in as interim CEO, three days a week.

This adds to a wide ranging portfolio. Caroline is Chair of Digital UK, a non-executive director at the NHS Trust Development Authority; a non-executive director at the CN Group; an ambassador for the employment charity, Tomorrow's People (their Kennington flower shop has supplied Christmas trees to BBC offices); a Government-appointed trustee of the National Gallery; a trustee of Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery ("Carlisle's finest visitor attraction") and may still be an Honorary President of the Prix Italia. I wonder if she still takes taxis....
