Rolling

On Tuesdays, it's management morning at the BBC: re-assembled will be Roger Mosey, back from the Eurovision Song Contest (not in his role as minder of gaffes, but as a Eurovision board member); James Harding may pop in, fresh from a grilling by Justin Webb, in front of news staff - with odd questions from John "Exploding Tomato" Sweeney; and Alan Yentob will drift down from his BH eyrie (so good they painted it twice) after dropping off the Brompton.

Alan's been dining in Cannes, but the agenda item of interest today may well be Glastonbury, the Proms de Nos Jours, coming up next month, to be headlined by A's old muckers, The Rolling Stones. BBC staff numbers at the fest peaked at 415 in 2009 - not far short of the number sent to the Beijing Olympics. 2010 was covered by 274; and 2011 by 263. I can't find a figure for 2012. [Of course you couldn't, you duffer - as readers have pointed out, it was a year off for the Eavis family - Ed] But the BBC has promised live streams of all stages this time - Olympic-stylee. What will this do to the numbers ?

Ronnie Wood painted this picture of Ivy denizens in 2003 as part of a triptych commissioned by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Alan Yentob is addressing a person unknown in the bottom centre, with Mick Jagger to the right.
