Mechanics

A BBC response to an FOI question first lodged in October last year demonstrates the mighty machine of the Press Office at work in the days running up to ITV's documentary - "Exposure: The Other Side of Jimmy Savile" - a programme the BBC nearly had in its grasp, but fumbled almost a year earlier.

The enquirer simply asked for anything that mentioned the ITV investigation. There are tantalising redactions, but this document, covering internal correspondence from 20th to 30th September 2012 shows how the press team monitor and change lines to stick with the BBC version of events.
