Not greedy

40 minutes of former BBC DG Mark Byford on BBC Radio 5 Live this morning - the first half about his book (does he really need to sell copies on that pension ?).

Here's Victoria in the BH broom cupboard listening to the book stuff. I presume Mark was in the Winchester unattended. Neither in Salford.

Did we learn anything ?  Mark is clearly not prepared to pay any of his notice back, but doesn't want to use those words. Mark, who started with the BBC in Leeds in 1979, and was Head of Centre in Leeds in 1990 (the year Savile was knighted), didn't know anything about Jimmy Savile and sexual abuse on BBC premises.

Interestingly, Mark's dad, Sir Lawrence, was responsible for the inquiry into why it took so long to catch the Yorkshire Ripper, Peter Sutcliffe. Savile was a person of interest to the West Yorkshire force during their investigation - two victims were found not far from Savile's flat in Roundhay, one of them, Irene Richardson, a matter of 300 yards away, in 1977.
