World weary

As BBC News staff wait anxiously for the announcement of new bosses to join the Harding/Munro/Blackmore troika, internal ads have been posted for more jobs in the confused and confusing structure they have devised.

There's a vacancy for Editor, UK 24/7, BBC News, and a parallel Editor, World 24/7, BBC News. Which sort of suggests there's a different skill set in covering domestic and international news. But alongside is Editor, Combined Radio Newsroom, BBC News, which suggests one person is capable of leading both domestic and international agendas - and signals the end of a separate World Service newsdesk, at the very least overnight, in this new "24/7" vision. These three posts are graded Senior Management 2. The vacancy behind Peter Horrocks, for Director World Service Group, is SM1 - it requires "highly tuned interpersonal skills" - presumably tuned to allow the closure of a dedicated radio newsdesk.

You have til 3rd October to apply (insiders only) and you might want to wait a little closer to the wire, to see who you'll be working for...
