News from California

James Harding, Director of BBC News, has just announced the remainder of his Praetorian Guard - and there's a return to the mothership for Adrian Van Klaveren. Adrian's been minding WW1 commemorations across the BBC, after his uncomfortable part in the Newsnight/Lord McAlpine palaver. Now he's to be Harding's Head of Strategic Change, Change which presumably will become necessary once James has found The Future of News.

In other chess board moves, James Stephenson moves from BBC World to become News Editor, after the advancement of Gavin "Dogbone" Allen. Anna Williams, who joined Auntie in 2006 from CNN, steps up to run the World News team at BH, but with new online responsibilities  On the domestic side, Sam Taylor stays roughly where he is, running the BBC News channel, but again with added online responsibilities. Richard Clark runs the Radio Newsroom - an old title, but now also minding the rump of the World Service radio news team.

James Montgomery, currently billed as Controller Digital and Technology for BBC Global News becomes Digital Development Director, which must be something completely different...

Jasmin Buttar, deputy editor of Today, moves to run the Business and Economics Unit. Roger Sawyer gets custody of a merged Newshour/World Tonight team.
