Roger

BBC Studios boss Mark Linsey has lighted upon trained solicitor Roger Leatham to put the funny into our Saturday nights to run his Entertainment production teams.

Roger left King's College London with an LL.B in 1990, and four years later was registered as a solicitor. The CV then goes quiet, before Rog turns up at BBC America as business development manager in 2000. Then there's another gap, with Roger moving to ITV 2004-2007 as Controller of Rights and Business Affairs. During his time, came a little hoo-ha over the British Comedy Awards, but Roger has only spoken to lawyers Olswang about it.

Then back to the bosom of Auntie and three jobs with mixtures of Rights, Talent, Business Affairs, Operations and Legal in various combinations, and a salary rising to £160k.

Roger runs and walks for charity, and organises cake sales.

Mark Linsey may want to think about gender balance and diversity in general at board level when he makes his next appointments.

  1. Maybe Mark should make this a traineeship at board level rather than an appointment
