Auld Lang Syne

From the schedules to hand, it looks like BBC viewers in Scotland will bid farewell to "Scotland 2016" on Wednesday 14 December. The show was given a lingering death by new News and Current Affairs boss Gary Smith in June, when he announced it would be dropped by the end of the year, to be replaced by a new one hour programme. No announcement about the new show yet, but Scotland 2016 has recently been limping on for three nights a week.

The 2230 BBC2 Scotland show launched in June 2014, as "Scotland 2014", creating an exciting annual challenge for the graphic artists. Who knows what Scotland 2017 will bring ? A replacement for Ken MacQuarrie ? A Scottish Six ?  Dinna fash yersel.
