It now seems to be a given that great tv drama costs big money. So BBC Worldwide has struck a deal with Anton Capital Entertainment for a joint investment of up to £150m over three years in a slate of new programmes.
Anton was set up by French banker Sebastien Rayboud; his partners include Belgian Harald Van Lier and Brit Laura Wilson. Previous deals include stumping up 30% of the cash for a package of StudioCanal biggies, for 30% of any future profits. Films that have received Anton backing including Paddington, Non-Stop, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Shaun the Sheep Movie.
