At odds

There's no jury in Sir Cliff v The BBC. Mr Justice Mann will have to reconcile a series of differences between the evidence of South Yorkshire Police, and the BBC, as to who said, what and when. The force has already apologised to Sir Cliff, and paid out £300k of the £400k agreed damages. Its interest now is in getting the judge to agree that the BBC has a responsibility to defray that sum.

Yesterday was, in large, taken up with the evidence of ex Detective Superintendent Matthew Fenwick, and his dealings with BBC reporter Dan Johnson. Did Dan force SYP into a corner ? Or were the SYP manipulating the BBC ? Dan was in court listening yesterday, alongside BBC execs Fran Unsworth and Jonathan Munro. I feel sure the two sides won't agree.
